Demand arrives in seasonal spikes
Gift and home stores sell most before holidays and moving seasons. A referral program that is ready before the peak needs setting up, testing and a short guide, not a last-week scramble.
Home and gift products are shared by nature: someone buys a candle or a serving board and the next question is where it came from. Referrals reward that sharing, and an affiliate program pays creators and interior bloggers who send buyers. Here is how to run both on Shopify with BLOOP.
The challenge
Gift and home stores sell most before holidays and moving seasons. A referral program that is ready before the peak needs setting up, testing and a short guide, not a last-week scramble.
BLOOP's reward guidance notes that for rare or one-off purchases, a discount appeals more than store credit toward a future order, and cash is the strongest signal for high-ticket categories. Your reward type should match how often your customers buy.
Home inspiration lives on blogs, social and video. Those partners want a commission and a clear way to track it, which a one-time customer reward does not give them.
Reward recipe
Example: A creator's link leads to an $80 order (shipping, taxes and tips excluded from the commission base) with gross profit of $32. At the default 15% commission, the creator earns $80 x 0.15 = $12, which leaves $32 - $12 = $20 before other costs. If the buyer also used a 10% friend discount, that is another $8 off the order, so check the combined cost before you stack offers.
Plays to run
When customers buy rarely, store credit toward a future order feels weak. BLOOP's guidance favors a percentage or fixed discount for those categories, and cash for high-ticket items (tracked in BLOOP, paid by you).
Uses: Referrer and referee rewards →A store can keep up to five campaigns at once. Use a separate campaign for a holiday, with its own rewards and its own audience, and turn it off when the season ends.
Uses: Referrer and referee rewards →Creators and bloggers apply through a registration form you design, you review and approve or reject applicants, and the portal carries your branding with translatable text.
Uses: Affiliate portal and registration →Commission is calculated on what the customer paid, and you can exclude shipping, taxes, tips, discounts or specific products. Choose percentage, fixed per order or fixed per item, optionally with order-size tiers. The default campaign is 15% with a 30-day cookie.
Uses: Commissions and tracking →BLOOP records payouts but you send the money outside the app, then mark it paid. The docs advise approving sales only after return windows close, because a commission already paid is never revoked.
Uses: Affiliate payouts →Gift orders often ship to one address and come from one household. Fraud Center can flag matching shipping addresses and multiple purchases from the same IP, and you can exclude genuine customers from checks.
